Designing Dissensual Common Sense: Critical Art, Architecture, and Design in Jacques Rancière’s Political Thought

How can design be socially engaged and politically efficient, as proposed by discourses labeled critical design? This article introduces a conceptualization historiography of charged discourse based on philosopher Jacques Rancière’s work the intersections politics, aesthetics, artistic practices. By focusing especially reading genealogy from Ruskin to constructivism Bauhaus, aims show that there is an important connection between politics present in thought. Rather than solely revealing oppressive dimension embedded designed forms, for Rancière, itself profound process aesthetical sensorial reconfiguration way which we perceive articulate our communal existence “the shared material world.” The suggests this useful examining broader encounter with political theory.
